    The T2 Minister of Religion Visa is available for those who wish to reside in the UK and work as a full-time religious worker or religious missionary. 

    The Tier 2 Minister of Religion Visa has been replaced by the T2 Minister of Religion Visa following the end of free movement between the UK and EU, as part of the UK’s news immigration changes.

    Both EEA and non-EEA nationals are permitted to reside in the UK, considering that they take the role of a minister of religion, missionary or religious worker, with this T2 Minister of Religion Visa. This visa permits the applicant with a maximum of three years and one month stay in the UK.

    T2 Minister of Religion Visa requirements

    You are required to score 70 points under the points-based immigration system, to be an eligible candidate for a Minister Religion Visa. If you have been offered a role of either the minister of religion, missionary or a religious worker, then you will be granted a 50 points score.

    An authorised UK Sponsor, licenced to hire foreign nationals should have offered you the job. Your employer, the UK sponsor should provide you with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), which fulfills one of the requirements for eligibility. 

    The fulfillment of the English language requirement which includes proficiency in speaking, reading, writing and understanding English, will add a further 10 points. This can be proved by getting a certificate form a recognised English laguagetest of at least CEFR level B2 or holding an academic degree that was taught in English which is acknowledged by the UK as a valid bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or PhD.

    The meeting of the financial requirements will add the remaining 10 points score. A minimum salary requirement has not been stated, although you need to succeed in convincing that you are able to financially support yourself during your stay in the UK. This is done by possessing for at least 28 days in a row, a minimum of £1270 in your bank account. Within 31 days of your visa application the day 28 must fall.

    What can you do on a Minister of Religion Visa ?

    The Minister of Religion Visa permits you a time period of 3 years and one month stay in the UK. During your stay, you are to work the job that has been described on your CoS for your sponsor. There are exceptional situations in which you may also volunteer or take on a second job with the condition that these should not affect your original job. 

    You can also travel abroad and return to the UK with the Minister of Religion Visa. You are also permitted to bring dependents which includes your family members such as your partner, children who are below 18 years of age and children who are above 18 years of age but eligible whilst your stay in the UK. A separate visa application is required if you intend to bring your family members. It should be well remembered that under this visa, you will not be allowed to access public funds in the UK.
