About Rubens Immigration

Rubens Solicitors is a law firm based in the West Highlands of Scotland. Founded in 2000, it has an extensive range of clientele. It provides legal services in both civil and criminal matters, and it is one of the few remaining practices in Argyll delivering such services.

The firm was established and owned by Ruben V Murdanaigum. After the sad passing of Mr Murdanaigum in August 2022, the firm of Rubens Solicitors continues trading, from the same address, with the same client base and staff, albeit it is now under new ownership. The firm is now operated by JBM Law Ltd which is trading as Rubens Solicitors. Our new principal is Mr John B McGeechan, Solicitor.

Mr McGeechan is a dual qualified lawyer (Scotland, England and Wales) who has represented clients in every single court in Scotland. He brings considerable experience to the firm from acting in a very wide range of cases and legal situations over the last 20 plus years. He previously served as a police officer, gaining CID experience and qualifications, with infantry service during his more youthful years.

The firm’s goal is to help and assist its clientele to be successful in whatever issue or problems they may request assistance with. You can be sure of straight forward advice.

The firm prides itself as a firm with international exposure having been involved in the establishment of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) within Europe through the European Commission and Parliament. ADR in European domestic laws were entirely due to late Mr Murdanaigum’s involvement with senior French and Belgian Judges and the firm paved the way for the ADR system within the European framework.

It was also involved in the introduction of ADR in some French, Caribbean and Indian Ocean countries. It has also been involved in amending legislation in Turkey. It assisted governments, universities and practitioners in Lebanon, Nepal, Romania, Bulgaria and Switzerland.

Its goal is to help and assist its clientele to be successful in whatever issue or problems they may request assistance with. It also has a contact office in Kathmandu, Nepal with the resident partner as Ms Ashma Sharma and a contact office in Tamil Nadu, India with the resident partner being Mr Babu Pattuswamy and Mrs Manju Kannan.
