    Family Visit Visa

    A Standard Visitor Visa under the Family Visit Visa category is required if you are a non-EEA national and wish to visit your family in the UK. This visa permits you to a six months stay.

    Under the Standard Visitor Visa, Family Visa is quite difficult to obtain as it has strict requirements. You are required to show that you can financially support your travel and stay in the UK and that you have a reason to return back to your home country so will not be staying for more than six months.

    You are not permitted to work, or claim any public funds under the Family Visit Visa. To bring any dependents is also not permitted so each of the family members has to apply for the Family Visit Visa separately.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    The application conditions are the same as for the Standard Visitor Visa.

    To be considered, you must meet the following requirements:

    • be over the age of 18 (unless applying under the Child Visitor Visa category)
    • have plans to leave the UK after your visit;
    • be able to provide proof of financial support while in the UK (this can come from a family member);

    and have sufficient funds to pay for your travel to the UK.

    Since the Family Visit Visa is part of the Standard Visitor Visa path, you will be required to show proof of your trip's purpose and your place for accommodation. You must also demonstrate that you can afford to fly to and from the UK.

    In addition, visitor visas require proof that you will return to your home country after your visa has expired. You will be required to include documentation demonstrating that you have obligations back home that you must fulfill.

    Before you can enter the country, you will need to show proof of your family relationship with the Family Visit Visa.

    Members of the family can include:

    • parents;
    • children;
    • siblings (including half-siblings and step-siblings);
    • grandparents;
    • and grandchildren.

    Uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins are no longer included in the definitions of family members eligible for Entry Clearance via the Family Visitor Visa as of July 2012.

    They can also apply for a regular Visitor Visa, but they will not be allowed to appeal if their application is denied.

    If you are visiting a close relative, you might be entitled to appeal a decision to deny Entry Clearance. Which members of the family are eligible for this appeal will be determined by an immigration officer.

    Before traveling to the UK, we suggest that you apply for Entry Clearance in your home country.

    Our team of experienced advisors at Ruben's Immigration will assist and guide you at every point of the visa application process.

    Among the services we provide are:
